How To Dye Easter Eggs Naturally Blue + Orange
A Easter tradition in my family has always been to decorate our home with Easter eggs and is a tradition Andrew and I want to continue in our home. This year instead of buying a kit from the supermarket that is full of ingredients that I don’t know, we experimented with ingredients that you can find in your pantry and fridge to create our own natural dyes! They turned out incredible!! Here is what we used:
For Blue Eggs
These are my favourite eggs because they look just like robins egg!
You will need:
- ½ head of red cabbage
- 2 cups of water
- 3 Tbsp of vinegar
Shred 1/2 head red cabbage and boil with 2 cups water, then cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the cabbage and add 3 tablespoons vinegar bring to a boil. Let it simmer for at about 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water and what it change colour!
For Orange Eggs
You will need:
- 4 Tbsp of Paprika
- 3 Tbsp of Vinegar
- 2 Cups of Boiling water
Boil eggs in water with the vinegar and paprika. Let it simmer for at about 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
I hope you enjoyed learning how to decorate your Easter Eggs naturally! How are you celebrating spring this year?
