Yesterday we had the sweetest picnic in our favourite spot and wanted share with you all that this winter we will be welcoming our newest little one! This pregnancy has been difficult with morning (all day) sickness and I would greatly appreciate your prayers for relief and endurance as I enter this second trimester. Despite the daily difficulties this pregnancy has also been filled with sweetness as the girls are very excited about the new baby and talk everyday to my belly ♥️

To help you plan your liturgical celebrations this month I have compiled the feast days my family will be celebrating! In the image above I have included a suggested reading for you to read either before to prepare or on the day.

This is not a list of all the May feast days, but if you are looking to jump into celebrating the liturgical year one of these feast days would be a wonderful start!

May 1st - Saint Phillip and Saint James
May 2nd - Saint Athanasius
May 9th - Ascension Day
May 19th - Pentecost
May 26th - Trinity Sunday
May 31st - The Visitation

Usually before each feast day I will do my best to share with you some quick tips, ideas, and recipes to bring joy and festivity into your domestic church. BUT for the next little while I need to give more attention to my family.

Why do we celebrate?
~On April 25th we celebrate St. Mark! This feast day celebrates the life of the evangelist who spread the good news by his writing and his life. If you look carefully at artwork that depicts Saint Mark you will often see him holding the bible and see a winged lion.

Did you know?
~St. Mark was one of the four writers of the Gospels and his is regarded as the earliest.
~He became a priest and later the bishop of Alexandria in Egypt where he was martyred
~St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice.

How to Celebrate...

~Eat Italian food!

How We Celebrate The Feast of St. George - April 23rd🐉

Why do we celebrate?
Today we celebrate St. George. This feast day celebrates the life of a Saint who was a solider in the Diocletian army who refused to deny his faith. For his faith he was martyred.

Did he slay a dragon? It is not agreed upon on where the story of him slaying a dragon originated. Some believe it was due to him being mistaken in Saint Michaels icon or were representations of the battle between good and evil. But regardless where the story comes from in is a wonderful story of the virtue of honour.

~Saint George is the patron saint of England
~St George was canonised in AD 494 by Pope Gelasius

How to Celebrate...
~Make a Shepards pie!
~Defeat the Dragon! Make cardboard swords and a cardboard dragon with your family.

🕊Why do we celebrate?

Today we celebrate the Annunciation of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This feast day is traditionally celebrated March 25th, but these year due to Holy Week it has been transferred to today April 8th.

Read Luke 1:26-38

Decorate with lilies. If you take a moment to search through artwork of the annunciation you will often find lilies in many of the works, as you can see in the featured image above. The Lily, symbol of virginity and purity.

Pray for those struggling with infertility and miscarriage

Learn about historically why Mary is called Theotokos : the God-bearer of Mother of God and how this title dispelled the heresy by Nestorius.

Treat someone you know that is pregnant. Write a letter, make them a meal, or send them a praying of you text.

Read a part of St. Cyril of Alexandria sermon that was preached at the council of Ephesus in 431 AD
