Here are 15 homemaking tasks that take minutes or less:
1) Read Your Bible
Before tackling any of these other tasks mentioned or reading ahead:
- Go and take out your bible.
- Set a timer for 15 minutes and read!
2) Clean The Toilets
I personally don’t mind cleaning the toilets and actually prefer it to cleaning the dishes! It is a simple task that makes a big impact in a little space that is used all the time!
3) Write a Letter
Take 15 minutes to write the thank you note, send an encouraging letter to a loved one, or a love note to your husband! I love receiving letters and really want to take this year to establish a good letter writing habit!
4) Clean Out The Car
We have all been there where you are in the car with your littles and everyone is still asleep! This is the perfect time to do a little tidy of the front!
The next time you are alone in the car take an extra 5 minutes to go to the back seats and trunk of the car to do a little clean out! Its easy, all you need to do is: collect the garbage, brush out the crumbs, and take in the things that don’t belong in the car.
5) Start a Load of Laundry
We live in an amazing time period where we have a machine to wash our laundry! It truly wasn’t that long ago that it was done by hand!
Washing the laundry is virtually effortless today and a great thing to get in the habit of doing once a day to keep up with it!
This is the laundry detergent I use and love!
6) Fold and Put Away The Laundry
It is my motto that if the laundry is not folded and put away, the laundry is not done! I like to make sure I always fold and put away the laundry once it is done drying or else it begins to pile up! This is also why I run a load of laundry each morning of my children’s clothes! Plus a second load 3 days of the week.
7) Do The Dishes
In our home my husband is usually the one to do the dishes because I suffer from extreme eczema after my first pregnancy (even with gloves on). But before I liked to wash dishes after every meal because it took less than 15minutes and didn’t leave us with a huge pile to wash before bed!

8) Pick Up The Toys
With little ones it can be difficult to stay on top of all the toys, even when you don’t have very many they seem to take over! In our house its the toys like the wooden blocks or big legos that make a big impact on a space especially in smaller homes like ours! So what I like to do is pick them up whenever I pass a toy and put it away.
We are working on putting toys away after playing with them and thats the goal, but there will always be something taken out that someone forgot to put away (I’m guilty of this too).
9) Write Your Todo List
On Sunday set a timer for 5 minutes and quickly write down everything that needs to be done today and this week! Put the list on the fridge and write the tasks that need to be written in the calendar!
10) Prepare Snacks for the day
It only takes 15 minutes to prepare fresh snacks for the day so that you aren’t reaching for a packaged snack or frantically trying to get it ready when everyone is hungry.
Here are some ideas:
- I like to have a homemade healthy jello made which takes 5 minutes and lasts 2-3 days!
- Cut up fruit and cheese
- Make smoothies
11) Take out the meat
There is nothing worse than looking at the clock and it is 5pm and you realize that you’ve forgotten to take out the meat for dinner! Thankfully instant pots exist, but it is always better to have it thawed and ready to go!
While I’m sipping my morning coffee I like to decide what we are having for lunch and dinner, then take out any meat that we may need!
12) Clean Out The Fridge
Every time you go into the fridge take a quick look around and toss whatever needs tossed. Also keep an eye out for spills and crumbs then tackle those!
13) Vacuum
Set a 10minute timer and quickly vacuum! We also have a robot vacuum for our kitchen / dining area so it simply takes pushing a button and making sure theres nothing that will get stuck in it!
14) Schedule Appointments
Schedule appointments when you think about them! This takes no more than 5 minutes.
15) Weed + Water The Garden
If it is garden season, making the effort to head outside for 15 minutes a day to water and weed the garden keeps the garden healthy and gives you a nice break in the fresh air. If you need garden inspiration this year check out this post How to Create a Wildflower Cottage Garden
How to stay motivated and focused while completing these tasks
While these homemaking tasks may only take 15 minutes or less, it can still be challenging to stay motivated and focused while completing them. To help with this, consider creating a checklist of tasks you want to accomplish each day. This can help you stay on track and give you a sense of accomplishment as you check each item off the list.
Another helpful tip is to use a timer to help manage your time. Set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can accomplish in that time frame. Once the timer goes off, move onto the next task. Breaking up your time in this way can help prevent burnout and make the tasks feel more manageable.
It’s also important to find ways to make these tasks enjoyable. Play your favourite music, listen to a podcast or audiobook, or invite a friend over to help. By finding ways to make the tasks more enjoyable, you’ll be more likely to stay motivated and focused.
Remember, even completing small tasks can make a big difference in your overall sense of accomplishment and productivity. By staying motivated and focused, you can make the most of your time and keep your home running smoothly.
I hope this list of 15 Homemaking Tasks That Take 15 minutes or less encourages you in your homemaking!

Love this! Thank you for the ideas of things I can get done with 15 minutes. I have ADHD and sometimes the only way to get things done is with a timer.
